September 2021 Update

In September 2021 the Royal Marines added the Candidate Preparation Course (CPC) to their entrance pathway. This is a new face to face, 4-day course (Tuesday evening to Friday) at the Commando Training Centre. The course slots in between the vPJFT (virtual Pre-Joining Fitness Test) and the ROP (Recruit Orientation Phase). To be successful, CPC candidates must successfully pass the Royal Marines Fitness Assessment, High Obstacle Course, RM Swim Test and be prepared for the Determination Test on the world-famous Endurance Course.

In line with the new criteria, Royal Marines Prep has been updated to feature:

  • a complete breakdown and explanation of the fitness elements of the CPC
  • a full 8-week training programme to prepare for the CPC
  • a new training programme for post-CPC passes whilst waiting for a ROP place
